THE VENICE GLASS WEEK
September 7th – 15th, 2019
ZOGIE IN MICROMOSAIC
[ITALIAN]
The Venice Glass Week is the first international festival dedicated to the art of glassmaking in Italy and internationally, with particular focus on Murano and Venetian glass, which aims to revive and promote Venice’s most important artistic and industrial activity. This third edition will take place from 7 to 15 September, 2019 and will include exhibitions, conferences, seminars, screenings and furnace open-days. The project is promoted by Comune di Venezia and organised by LE STANZE DEL VETRO, Fondazione MUVE, Istituto Veneto di Scienze Lettere ed Arti and Consorzio Promovetro Murano.
Much pleased with the success of the last edition and grateful to everyone who last years wished they could still admire our collection of micromosaic items, this year we participate with the exhibition “Zogie in micromosaic” (from Venetian dialect, zogia or zoia: precious stone, jewel), exclusively dedicated to antique and contemporary jewels in Venetian enamel glass mosaic. First created as Grand Tour souvenirs, micromosaics are still breathtaking to this day with their small and sparkly tiles, skillfully arranged to produce a variety of reduced-size artworks. Venetian glass revives in enamel glass tesserae and murrine that compose masterful handcrafted jewels, from 19th and 21th century, like brooches, earrings, pendants, necklaces, that will surely please the eyes of our guests.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING YOU HERE!
